Hello!
I’m Lauren Heath, a children's book illustrator from Phoenix, Arizona now based in Brooklyn, New York.
I graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Arts in Baltimore, Maryland. My main areas of work include storytelling illustrations, character design, and hand lettering. My work is inspired by natural textures, mid-century shapes, movement, and light.
While my professional work is mainly digital, I love playing with traditional mediums like gouache, colored pencils, and collage to expand my creativity. I create my own digital brushes with handmade textures to give my work a unique feel. I like podcasts, baking in my tiny kitchen, and owning far too many pencils.
I've illustrated three children's books with Make Way for Books, an Arizonan non-profit organization that provides early literacy services and resources to help children develop critical literary skills and a lifelong love of learning. My fourth book, "What's in a Wiggle" by author Alberta Daggett, is now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
As a children’s book illustrator, my goal is to tell diverse and inclusive stories that inspire others. I am always interested in new opportunities and creative projects, and can be contacted at laurenheathart@gmail.com or on my contact page.
